Garage
(last updated May 2002 in red)My wife and I are currently constructing a garage on the side of our house in Poole, Dorset.
The garage will have a room above it. Here we have built to damp proof course level, so that the Buildings Inspector could pass it and allow us to continue building.
We are hoping to have a cement mixer soon to take away the toil of mixing up the cement manually.
It is now May and things have developed further as the photograph below demonstrates:
The cement mixer has arrived - saves a lot of hard labour and the Buildings Inspector has approved building to first floor level. Watch this space for further develops of our garage and study room. This photo was taken 26th July as you can see things have progressed to first floor level. We completed the Utility room at the rear of the garage at the end of 2000 and it has been in use since then. We have now found a builder and we now have a 1st floor bedroom and new roof, which is currently in the process of being tiled. Picture will appear on this site very shortly! Here are the promised pics.
When not building my garage, or at the pub, I follow Sunderland Football Club. I have followed them for many years now, but because I now live on the South Coast and they are based in the North East, where I originate from, I don't get the chance to see them as often as I would like.

Tania is a keen sailor and belongs to Parkstone Yacht Club one of many yacht clubs in Poole Harbour (the 2nd biggest natural harbour in the world). She used to sail a Dart 18 catamaran, but got fed up with getting wet, so she sold it. Then she bought an 'E'boat but she didn't really take to it, so she sold that. She has sailed a Mirror dingy for the last couple of year but now she's bought a Wayfarer, which means I get to get wet again every sail -YIPPEE!
We also indulge in riding our Mountain Bikes - although there are not too many mountains - so we ride them on the Roman Road (really built by the Romans but now a bridleway) and the Castleman Trailway (the old railway), occasionally we really exert ourselves and take them over the chain ferry at the harbour entrance to the Isle of Purbeck where there are lots of hills and plantations.
Any spare time - Ha Ha! Tania tries to create an interesting garden - judge for yourself . Now we have finally demolished our shed and turned the cement base into an al-fresco dining are which meant, of course, we had to buy new garden furniture and a new arbor!
